CATALYZING HEALTH ACTIONS FOR SOCIETAL EMPOWERMENT ( CHASE) PHASE -2 IN BARAK VALLEY REGION , DIOCESE OF AIZAWL.

Target groups:  Pregnant and  lactating mothers, Adolescent Girls , Infants  and   Children.  Tuberculosis patients
Project Goals: Improved health status of pregnant women, adolescent girls, infants of  20  Tribal villages in Barrack valley region, Assam though health education and institutionalised  supports
Objectives: The number of Institutional Deliveries will be increased by 30 % and the number of fully immunized children up to the age 2 years increased by 30 % in 20 villages by December, 2023.

  • Pregnant women, adolescent girls, Infants and Children of 20 targeted villages accessed health care and they are linked to Government facilities
  • Occurrence of TB is reduced through community awareness , preventive and curative measures
  • Adolescents girls have accessed education as they have improved health and nutritional status

Project Brief:  

  • The Project areas are as are most  20 remote  villages in Cachar and   Karimganj districts.
  • Project seeks support from Government Health departments
  • The profile of pregnant women and mothers and children to be vaccinated and TB patients are collected by the Women Health Workers  regularly and updated at respective Government Primary Health Centres, TB clinics  for continuous  attention and care
  • Nutritional supplements to TB patients, adolescent girls.
  • Village level health awareness campaign
  • Medical camps & mobile vaccination in remote villages
  • Networking and interface meeting with Government Health departments/orientation on maternity benefits and schemes
  • Training on Mother & Child Health(MCH) for women and men leaders, traditional birth attendants , Village Health Committees etc
  • Training on Herbal medicine for Health Workers and women leaders
  • Sex education and counselling support to Adolescent girls
  • Drop out youths will be given educational health support from Women Empowerment Centre and health services reach to remote village
  • Leadership camp for the adolescent girls
  • Training on menstrual hygiene and distribution of menstrual hygiene kits

Accomplishment:

  • 80% Good rapport and networking  with Government  health department
  • 75% Beneficiaries benefited from Government Schemes
  • 60% Beneficiaries have learned to make herbal medicine and use for  their benefit
  • 35% TB patients increased their gaining of weight  by taking proper nutritional supplement and medicine.
  • 75% Increased institution delivery and immunization 
  • 50% of drop out youths completed Class X and XII

Target groups  : Pregnant Women, Lactating Mothers, Children less than 5years old

Project Goals: Improved nutritional status of pregnant women, lactating mothers and children less than five years old and enhanced health/reduced diseases through better water, sanitation facilities and primary health care services.

Objectives

1. By the end of project period, maternal and child health in the target villages have improved through quality services.

.  The access of the target group to quality primary health care services has improved “(based on the each partner “specific health issues and target groups) by the end of the project period.

Project Brief :  Sustainably improving the health situation in 24 remote villages in Barak Valley ,  Assam, in North East India through Participatory and people led preventive and curative health care activities with a focus on mother and child health care    

•      Good rapport and networking between Health Facilitation Centres of project area with the Government Health Department .

•      Increased awareness on personal hygiene and prevention methods  of infectious diseases, through awareness on  hand washing  

•      The free Health camps have helped to get free treatment and medicine in the project implemented villages

•      Awareness on Government Schemes  among the target population

Awareness on Breast cancer and Self Examination.

Helped the community to take action in cooking and intake of balanced food for the health of mothers and to prepare complementary food for children by following the hygienic methods.

Accomplishment :

Capacitated rural women in Kitchen Gardening/animal rearing/herbal plants

75% Increased institution delivery and reduced home delivery in the target areas

69.67% awareness on early detection of signs and symptoms of breast cancer has improved from the baseline

80% Children were taught  to wash   their hands  before meal and after using the  toilets  with soap.

80%  household  were boil water for drinking.
